This is a superb piano, made in Yamaha’s flagship Hamamatsu factory in Japan in 1976, that would suit a professional musician, serious amateur or perhaps a very fortunate beginner. This piano was bought about 10 years ago as a ‘refurbished in Japan’ piano, it remains in excellent order and we have now thoroughly checked, cleaned, re-polished, tuned and regulated it and the piano is now ready for it’s next home, where it will give many years of faithful service. The Yamaha U1 is the benchmark modern upright piano, much sought after for their smooth and responsive action, reliability and big and bright sound - ever popular with musicians, piano teachers and schools. This is a very good opportunity to pick up a really nice Yamaha U1 H at a very good price.
Tone and tuning
Stunning bold, rich and full tone throughout the registers and a large dynamic range. Tuned to concert pitch prior to sale (A=440). This piano has a mute / celeste pedal for very quiet practice.
Keyboard and action
The keyboard is in very good condition and the action has been regulated so plays perfectly smoothly across the whole keyboard with a medium weight. The loop chords, check tapes, keybed felts and key bushings were all replaced 10 years ago. Very expressive and responsive for developing or advanced level players.
Hammers and strings
The hammers are in very good shape, with plenty of new felt. Strings are also in excellent condition also with no dullness in tone anywhere.
Soundboard
Excellent condition, no issues.
Case
The case is in very good to excellent condition throughout and will suit most styles of decor. We have repolished the case to restore the shine, there are a couple of marks that remain, but hardly worth mentioning. A new matching height adjustable stool is included in the sale.
