This is a very good quality piano made by Yamaha in Japan in 1989. Suitable for any level of player, it has been only lightly used so far but well maintained and now very carefully prepared by oursleves to be at its best. Yamaha pianos are renowned for their robust build quality, fast and smooth actions and clear, bright tone. The P116 is a little smaller than their benchmark U1 model, yet offers a very similar playing experience and is a good alternative at a lower price point.
Tone and tuning
This piano has a lovely tone with Yamaha’s renowned clarity without sounding at all harsh, nice and even throughout the registers and a very good dynamic range. Tuned to concert pitch (A=440).
Keyboard and action
The full 88 note keyboard is in excellent condition and the action has been regulated to play smoothly across the whole keyboard with a light to medium weight action, which will suit any level of pianist. Yamaha’s piano actions are well loved for being fast and resposnive under the fingers and this certainly lives up to that reputation.
Hammers and strings
Strings in excellent condition and not much wear at all in the hammers, see photos.
Sound board
Excellent condition, no cracks or splits.
Case
The rosewood gloss cabinet is in very good condition throughout. The odd small mark here and there, which we have tidied up, but not very noticeable. Matching adjustable stool included in the sale.
