The award winning Kawai RX range of grand pianos have been loved by musicians, conservatoires and concert halls since their introduction in 1995, due to their superb rich and clear tone, long sustain and expressive actions. Superior to entry level GM range, and the mid level GE range, these are pianos that would suit the most demanding of pianists. At slightly over 6 feet long, the RX-3 has a very deep and resonant bass and lots of power to fill a large room or small concert venue. The RX range has now been superceded by the GX range and the equivalent GX-3 model is around £24,000 new. Very well looked after by the previous owners, we have now thoroughly and carefully prepared this piano for sale, so it is at it's absolute best for the new owner.
Tone and tuning
The tone is bold, powerful, rich and crystal clear, with an even sound throughout the registers. The full duplex scale enhances harmonics in the treble range adding brilliance, richness and sustain to the piano's tone. The bass section is very powerful, which only a high quality large piano can deliver. Tuned to concert pitch (A=440).
Keyboard
The keyboard is in excellent condition. Kawai’s exclusive NEOTEX keytop material made of cellulose fiber offers the smooth, understated texture of natural ivory and ebony – and a semi-porous, silica-filled surface to absorb the hand's natural oils and perspiration. Since NEOTEX is used for both the sharps and naturals, the feel of the keys is consistent across the entire keyboard. NEOTEX resists cracking and fading over years of use – and is static-resistant to help prevent the build-up of unwanted dust. The result is a beautiful, long-lasting key surface with exceptional playability.
Action
This piano features Kawai’s 'Ultra-Responsive ABS Action', which, with a few further developments, became the Millenium III action in 2004. They are very similar indeed and both action designs offer the pianist an exceptional level of control over tone and dynamics. This action is slightly lighter feeling than the Millenium III action and is wonderful to play.
Pedals
Damper and Una Corda as usual, plus Sostenuto pedal (in the middle) which is required in some higher level romantic and modern era pieces.
Hammers and strings
Hammers have only a little wear and the strings are in very good condition also - this piano has been very well looked after.
Sound board
Excellent condition - no cracks, splits or bumps.
Case
A stunning black polyester gloss case, in very good condition throughout. A few small blemishes consistent with age and use, but these are only noticeable very close up. A new matching adjustable stool is included in the sale
Dimensions
186cm (6’ 1”) long, 152cm wide, 102cm tall - a 'boudoir' grand piano, truly impressive in stature and sound yet would fit within many domestic spaces as well as public venues, bars, resturants etc.
