This is a very good quality piano made by Young Chang in South Korea in 1994. Young Chang are a very well established piano manufacturer who have built pianos for many other brands and collaborated with the likes of Yamaha and Steinway, offering great value for money, high build quality and rich and pleasant tone. Their pianos use high quality parts such as Royal George felts and German Roslau strings, are of consistently very good quality and once set up well they are fantastic pianos on a par with similar sized models by Yamaha and Kawai at a much lower price. This Elysian 118 was made for Morley Pianos in London, with ‘Elysian’ being their own brand name. This is a lovely looking and sounding piano for beginners to advanced players, in very good condition and with very little use so far. It would be a great option for someone looking for a high quality alternative to the benchmark Yamaha U1 at a very sensible price. We usually have several Yamaha U1s in stock for comparison.
Tone and tuning
Lovely rich tone, with strong bass and clear, bell like treble, and a very good dynamic range. Tuned to concert pitch (A=440) prior to sale. This piano features a 3rd pedal for very quiet practice.
Keyboard and action
The full size 88 note keyboard is in very good condition and the action has just been regulated so plays smoothly across the whole keyboard with a light-medium weight action, which will suit most players, including beginners. This feels very similar to the Yamaha U1 action under the fingers.
Hammers and strings
As visible in the photos there is very little wear in the hammers and the strings are in excellent condition also. This piano has had a very easy life thus far!
Sound board
Excellent condition spruce, as new.
Case
Lovely looking dark mahogany case with high gloss polyester lacquer, which is in very good condition throughout. There is the odd small mark consistent with age but hardly worth mentioning. The piano is on castors for easy moving and the new adjustable stool in photos is included in the price.
Dimensions
118cm tall, 150 wide, 61 deep. Just very slightly shorter than a U1 with the sound you’d expect from a fairly tall upright.
